Accident at work claim after woman is run over by forklift
A worker at a major supermarket’s warehouse is currently preparing to make an accident work claim after having been run over in the warehouse by a forklift truck.
The lady, who worked at the regional distribution centre in Leicestershire, was busy organising stock in the main delivery area when, without warning, a forklift truck forklift came straight through a plastic partition, crashing into her.
As a result of the accident, she suffered severe injury to her leg, for which she needed to undergo no less than 6 different operations; she has been left seriously scarred, as well as requiring special walking aids. All of these considerations were taken into account in calculating the size of the compensation to which she is entitled.
The legal case, which was heard at Leicester Crown Court, included footage of the accident which had been captured by CCTV, as well as testimony being given relating to the company’s negligence in enacting proper measures to reduce the risk of this kind of accident taking place.
The ladies employer admitted to 2 breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act, being fined £80,000 as a result.
It is unknown as of yet when Ms Miles plans to bring forth her work accident compensation claim.
