Work accident victim claims £100k after 30-foot fall
A boat worker from Plymouth has launched a work accident claim of up to £100,000 for personal injury sustained in a workplace incident.
The 48-year-old man fell through the floor of a vessel he was working on and plummeted 30 feet onto a marble floor.
He was working aboard a boat as a loomist when the work accident happened.
It was reported that he fractured a vertebra in the fall and later needed surgery.
He is incapable of carrying out everyday tasks without help, and he has been unable to work since the incident.
The man has contacted injury lawyers and is claiming damages from his employers, a yacht company in Newport Street, Plymouth.
The writ states that the accident happened on April 30, 2009, at the company’s premises in Langage.
The worker branded the company guilty of professional negligence and in breach of statutory duty and states that this led to the accident.
Although insurers for his employers admitted full liability for his personal injuries, injury lawyers were unable to agree how much compensation he should receive.
The man has now been referred to a pain clinic, as he continues to suffer constant pain, for which he needs a mixture of painkillers.
