Worker Seeks Compensation Claim after Suffering Multiple Personal Injuries
A man who suffered serious personal injury while at work is seeking work accident compensation, it has emerged.
The 56-year-old was building a pathway around a pond at the Kingsway Business Park in Rochdale, when he was struck by a reversing truck.
He suffered damage to his ribs, left shoulder and right foot, among other things, as a result of the incident.
He has lost an inch in height, has needles in his spine and has been told by doctors that he will have to take pain killers for the rest of his life. He will probably never work again.
In a recent development, the company - a support services and construction organisation with operations in Europe, Canada, the Middle East, North Africa and Caribbean - pleaded guilty to three health and safety breaches.
Sentencing, Judge Mushtaq Khokhak stated: "Any employee who goes to work has the right to be safe in their working environment, and to expect that their employer will take all practical steps to ensure that this is the case."
The worker is now pursuing a civil accident claim in a bid to receive money for his suffering.
