New campaign for health and safety rules
Accidents can happen in many different ways in the workplace. According to health and safety statistics every 25 minutes someone breaks or fractures a bone at work. Therefore health and safety officials have reacted by sending a strong message through their website looking at the amount of injuries and deaths caused by negligence at work:
“Last year 45 workers died following a fall from height and 3750 were seriously injured. Reducing this unnecessary injury toll is a priority and Shattered Lives is our latest campaign. Find out what happens when workers are put at risk and what you can do to stop falls from height in your workplace.”
Health and safety organisers claimed that employers must do more to avoid work accidents such as slipping and fall from heights in the work place. It is also thought that many injured victims do not receive full pay when they are absent from work.
