HSE warns of the dangers within the workplace
According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) more needs to be done to help prevent workplace accidents, Judith Hackett gave this stark warning whilst visiting Blackpool.
Judith, visited a number of Fylde premises with local inspectors to increase awareness of the importance of safety in the work place.
According to recent statistics around 200 people loss their life in a work place accident with another 100,000 people being injured.
According to Ms Hackett "One injury is one too many – we really do want to drive those numbers down. It's down to employers to provide safe workplaces, but also down to employees to do the right thing.”
“We still have people falling off ladders and off scaffolding or steps and people being hit by forklift trucks. But these are all things that can be avoided. It's about taking simple steps that can stop these things from happening.”
Alongside the (HSE) executive warning a new campaign has been launched in the North West, with the aim to raise awareness among young tradesmen and woman about the dangers of asbestos.
