Company admits guilt in work accident
A company based in Derby has admitted it was at fault in an accident at work.
A woman lost part of her leg in a forklift accident while working for the logistics company in 2006. The 32 year old mother has already been awarded injury compensation for the accident and is receiving ongoing treatment for the injuries she sustained.
The prosecution stated: "On the day of the accident, Miss Ramos was going about her normal duties and was working between a number of different places. She was wearing a high-visibility coat and safety gear when she was struck from behind and knocked to the ground. The force of the impact was so serious it resulted in muscles tearing away from her bone. The HSE view this accident as very serious and the decision to prosecute has not been taken lightly."
Those in upper management responsible for the accident are due to be sentenced next month.
