Six-year-old girl among crash victims

A six-year-old girl was taken to hospital in a serious condition after a seven-car motorway pile-up.

It was reported that twelve people sustained personal injury in the car accident.

The police have released on bail a 31-year-old lorry driver until May 27, after he was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving resulting in the crash on the M6 in Warwickshire.

The girl sustained severe personal injuries to her head and was transfered from University Hospital in Coventry, to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham for further treatment.

A spokeswoman for Warwickshire Police said: "The little girl is still very, very poorly."

Her two tear old brother suffered whiplash, two broken legs and a broken arm in the crash. Their 36-year-old mother suffered whiplash and severe bruising to her arm. The collision involved the family's car and an articulated Renault lorry.

In addition, a Toyota multi-purpose vehicle, two Fiat Ducato panel vans, a Ford Mondeo, a Vauxhall Vectra saloon were also involved in the collision.

It is unknown if any whiplash claims will be filed.
