Warning for uninsured drivers
Insurance fraudsters failing to purchase insurance are running the risk of suffering from a serious injury, in which they will not be compensated, injury lawyers have warned.
This warning came after research by the Association of British Insurers recently revealed that the number of uninsured drivers is increasing.
Mike Gibson, of a law firm said: "What many people forget is that car insurance provides an important protection for both the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. If there is no valid insurance in the event of a claim, then the result can be extremely costly to the individuals involved."
He added: “The impact of even minor injuries from an accident on a person's every day life should never be underestimated. Whiplash injuries are especially common, and can be especially severe.
“Left untreated or undiagnosed, a whiplash injury can become debilitating, preventing someone from being able to work. Whiplash is ordinarily covered by insurance companies to provide compensation in the event of a whiplash claim, not to treat the injury, but instead provide income and compensation because of it.
“Without appropriate insurance cover, a person suffering from whiplash symptoms can be left out of pocket paying for car repairs, lose income from taking time off work, as well as suffer pain without any means of compensation."
