Student suffers whiplash in dodgems ride
A student has received €7,000 after suffering whiplash injuries as a result of being struck by a "rogue driver" during a dodgem ride.
The 22-year-old from Donegal, Ireland, was involved in a head on collision during a dodgem ride at an adventure park on July 2004.
According to a High Court judge, two teenage boys in another vehicle had deliberately targeted the young woman.
It was also stated that the 14-year-old driver of one of the cars was driving in the wrong direction, despite a number of signs stating "one way round".
Two supervisors came onto the scene after the teenage driver of the other vehicle crashed into the side of the woman's vehicle.
The supervisors failed to ask the woman if she was okay and got her car going again.
She was later struck head on by the same vehicle after the teenager ignored the "no head-on bumping" signs.
The judge stated that the park was liable for the woman's injuries as the accident may not have occurred had the supervisors in charge acted upon the two teenagers who intentionally turned the vehicle to drive in the opposite direction.
The judge said: "This is what teenage boys will do and this is why there are people there to look out for them."
