Two women suffer whiplash
An accident took place on a busy South Devon road which resulted in two women suffering whiplash injuries to their necks.
This type of injury is typical of a low impact crash and is extremely common. Despite being a common injury, it is still a very severe problem and can impact on a persons life dramatically, preventing them from carrying out normal everyday activities which we take for granted.
So soon after the accident it is not yet known if either of these women are planning on claiming. It is also unclear as yet who was at fault, which would of course affect the claim.
The ambulance driver who attended the scene of the accident recalled what he witnessed and reported on the injuries which the two ladies are dealing with.
"The lady was approaching the junction outside the pub and another lady was in collision with her.
"The lady in the front car has sustained neck injuries, whiplash, and we put her on a spinal board and extracted her from her car with the help of the fire brigade."
It appears that the woman, in her late 40s, lived in Paignton and was on her way home at the time of the accident. She was taken to hospital following the accident for further treatment and X rays.
"The back of the car was damaged so much the wheel on the passenger side wouldn't rotate," added the ambulance spokesman.
Mark Johnson, a member of bar staff at the Parkers Arm, who witnessed the accident, said: "I just heard a bang and I saw ambulance staff treating a woman. There are lots of emergency services here."
