Punter Has Foot Severed By Barman
Everyone loves to unwind at the local after a long week at work, but for Barry Dangeur of Carmarthenshire, his Friday evening ended in the Accident and Emergency Department of his local hospital. Barry was out with friends at the bar just enjoying his evening, when a passing bartender dropped a tray of glasses onto his foot, causing a severe injury. When the tray impacted on the ground at Barry’s feet the glasses smashed, causing many shards to scatter in the area and onto his feet, on this occasion Barry unfortunately chose to wear open-top footwear, which allowed the glass to cut into his skin and cause lasting damage.
Barry was forced to go to the hospital on the night and have his foot examined by his doctor, where it was found that unfortunately he had severed 3 tendons in his foot and would be unable to walk on his foot unaided for a year or more.
Barry contacted Accidents Direct after 3 months of living with the torment of his inability to work and support himself, not only physically, but financially due to his loss of earnings. Barry hadn’t initially considered moving forward with a claim until his good friend Tony told him of the way in which compensation can help those in need during a time of great suffering.
Barry was concerned about making a claim for compensation against his local bar, as he is a regular and didn’t want to cause tension or lose his fellowship with other patrons. Fortunately for Barry a claim for compensation is made against the insurance company of any given establishment or entity, not directly against the owner or employees, these insurance policies are indeed in place to offer compensation to visitors upon these premises.
Knowing this, Barry went ahead with a claim for his injuries, and was awarded a payout of £16,000 in total including his loss of earnings. As the claim went against the insurance company of The Gravy Boat, Barry was welcomed onto the premises with open arms, especially as it was his turn to get the round in!
