Girl injured at play group receives compensation
A girl has been awarded public liability compensation as a result of an injury she suffered while at a local authority-run play group.
The girl who is ten years old sustained a broken leg personal injury after she fell from a roundabout at the group.
Her mother took legal action against Clackmannanshire Council, saying staff at the centre had failed to act to prevent the incident occurring. She succeeded in her compensation claim and the family received £9,000.
Chief executive of the authority, Angela Leitch - who assumed her role in February last year after leaving the City of Edinburgh Council - has issued an apology.
She said: "Children's safety is a priority for the council and we deeply regret that this accident happened while [the victim] was in our care."
Meanwhile, the victim's family said they felt they had to take action so that a similar incident did not happen again to someone else.
