£20,000 in compensation for professional negligence
A factory worker has received £20,000 in compensation claims after he was injured at work due to a serious fall.
The 59 year old man was left with a broken wrist, severe shoulder pain and other personal injury in the work accident.
His injury lawyers said that he slipped on the dust created by a shot blast while working at a medical instruments manufacturer.
His job demanded him to unload barrels of acid in the walkway area outside of the blasting room.
During one such occasion, he lost his footing on the debris that had been displaced from the cleaning of blast machinery within the room.
He had to undergo surgery to mend his left wrist and was off work for 22 weeks. However, he is expected to ultimately regain full use of his wrist.
The man's injury lawyers were able to prove that the personal injuries were caused due to his employer's professional negligence.
They said the company should have ensured that the blasting debris didn’t escape from the designated area by implementing basic health and safety procedures.
His employers did not admit liability but settled the claim out of court.
