Witness search for professional negligence claim
A woman who contracted cancer after being exposed to asbestos from her father’s work clothes, is in the search for his former workmates.
The 73 year old woman was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 2008.
Her injury lawyers say she believes she came into contact with asbestos through her father, who worked as a bricklayer at an iron foundry from 1937 to 1969.
His job involved working with asbestos products and he would come home covered in dust. She said: "After I left home I used to help my mother to wash father’s dirty work clothes."
Her lawyers added that they would be pursuing a professional negligence case against the foundry but would need to hear from anyone who worked there between 1965 and 1969.
They said: “In order to build up an accurate picture of her exposure to asbestos it is important we speak to anyone who can recall the working conditions between 1965 and 1969.”
She currently lives with her three children, five grandchildren and a great grandchild, and received chemotherapy treatment.
