Compensation claim for professional negligence
It has emerged that a schoolgirl from Fareham is set to take legal action concerning a personal injury she suffered, while next to a shop.
It was reported that she was standing infront of a Co-op store on Gudge Heath Lane, Fareham, when part of the premises fell down.
The 14-year-old girl was standing under the canopy by the shop when all of a sudden the ceiling panels fell on top of her.
She is said to have sustained personal injuries to her head, and paramedics were called who treated her at the scene.
Despite the injuries caused by gross professional negligence of the shop owners, the girl decided she did not require hospital treatment.
The police have launched an investigation into what happened and have advised the store to remain closed in case a similar thing occurs again.
The chief operating officer for food retail and services firm said the company is sorry about their professional negligence and is "very concerned" about the accident.
He added that the firm will keep in contact with the family of the girl until she is fully recovered. He did not comment on the possibility of a compensation claim by the injured girl.
