Woman’s death leads to probe

The Ministry of Health is to hold an investigation, after a female patient died, allegedly due to professional negligence.

A panel has been formed in accordance with the Medical Responsibility Law to review the case and report its findings.

It is unclear how the victim died, but the latest medical blunder has forced the government to take measurements in reducing clinical malpractice.

The government stated that the guidelines were set to examine medical errors and help all in charge to investigate them. Each hospital has a committee to conduct such exams. Serious cases are referred to local health bodies.

Cases that go unsolved are looked into via a higher medical liability committee. The law to enforce medical liability encompasses regulations and provisions on medical practice and related professions.

The government is taking even further steps to reduce medical deaths. A proposal by the Ministry of Justice may be set up in an exclusive court to try cases of medical errors under the new law.

Currently, cases of medical errors are being tried in civil courts.
