Professional negligence leaves woman's face 'butchered'
A woman has received compensation after suffering multiple injuries as a result of professional negligence.
The 43-year-old former wine bar and nightclub owner required surgery on three occasions after an eye and jaw lift operation went wrong.
According to the woman, her face was 'butchered' after the operation left her with extremely tight skin after too much fat was removed from beneath her left eye.
As a result, she suffered from depression and became 'suicidal', which nearly caused an end to her 25-year marriage.
She said: "My face has been butchered."
The woman later filed a compensation claim against two surgeons at the Newcastle based firm, Transform Medical Group.
The group admitted liability and an undisclosed yet substantial sum was settled.
The woman's lawyer is now warning Brits looking to undergo cosmetic surgery to ensure they chose a specialist surgeon.
He said: "More and more people are having cosmetic surgery and the results can be devastating when things go wrong.
People should also be careful to check that their surgeon is a specialist not just in cosmetic surgery but in their particular operation.
Too many cosmetic surgeons are a jack of all trades and master of none."
