Man claims compensation after accident at work
A man has received a sum of compensation after he sustained personal injuries, while working on a farm.
The man, who was in his late forties at the time of the accident, was using a chain saw when the accident happened.
He has not been properly trained in using the specific type of machinery, though he had used chainsaws in previous years. In addition to this, the man was left unattended while doing so. While working, the chainsaw fell onto the man’s hand, causing severe personal injuries.
He contacted a personal injury lawyer, following his hospital treatment and was successful in his claim, which was worth £1,400.
The owner of the farm admitted that he has breached a section of the Health and Safety Work Act, which states that “It shall be the duty of every employer to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare at work of all his employees."
This means that the responsibility of providing a safe place to work in for staff members is down to the employers.
