Next of Kin claims as Secondary Victim
A judge has awarded £25,000 in compensation to the father of a girl who died when a newly-qualified driver crashed on a mountain road.
The young driver was convicted of careless driving but released with a conditional discharge and a temporary driving ban.
The father of the girl claimed personal injury and loss as the “secondary victim” of the crash, which killed his daughter and three other friends.
The father defended his decision to bring forward a Personal Injury claim by stating “I’m bringing the action to bring closure and justice, this has to be done for my daughter. She was the light of our lives and lit up all around her."
It has taken three years to come to a verdict but the claim has been granted.
