Personal injury claim for ambulance technician
An ambulance technician has recently been awarded a substantial compensation claim, following his personal injury. In the course of work, the ambulance technician and a colleague were called out to a prison to attend to a patient, whom it became necessary to take to a hospital. This required the patient to be carried down several flights of stairs, as well as across an uneven floor surface, using a carry chair.
The patient was a heavy man and the chair that had been provided turned out to be unsuitable for use on stairs. Indeed, several complaints had already been made about the chairs, which were consequently due to be replaced. It was very difficult to move the patient out to the ambulance, which resulted in the ambulance technician suffering injuries to the back and shoulder. He required hospital treatment and eventually had to be retired from his job on medical grounds.
The ambulance technician pursued a compensation claim for his personal injury. His employer initially denied any responsibility for his injury, so it became necessary for him to commence court proceedings.
Through negotiations with the defendants, however, he was able to secure a settlement of £55,000, taking into account his injuries and also his financial losses, including his loss of earnings, medical expenses and loss of future pension rights.
you have suffered personal injury in similar circumstances, don’t hesitate to pursue a claim.
