Man awarded £35k in personal injury compensation following accident
A 61-year-old British man who, following an accident in which he suffered life-threatening injuries to his head, as well as broken bones, decided to make a personal injury claim for compensation, has recently seen success in his case, having been awarded a settlement of £35,000.
The man who hails from Great Baddow, a large village in Chelmsford with a population of more than 13,000, had to undergo extensive surgery for his injuries after a 101-foot Christmas tree collapsed, crushing him.
The accident took place in Prague; the man had to be transported back to the UK via air ambulance, after which he was treated in the intensive care ward at a Hospital in Essex.
The incident - which also left the man with spinal injuries - took place in the capital of the Czech Republic in December of 2003.
The man is now only able to walk with the aid of a stick. This, as well as other considerations, was no doubt taken into account when the sum of his compensation was calculated.
The man has been said to be very happy with the compensation that he has been awarded.
