Personal injury lawyer appeals for witnesses
A personal injury lawyer specialising in head injuries has appealed for witnesses to come forward to assist in the presentation of his client's car accident compensation case, after her baby suffered severe brain personal injury in a car accident, in Northampton.
In her own emotional appeal, the 32-year-old mother of six-month-old twins, recalled the sickening moment that the pram containing her babies was swiped out of her grasp as she crossed a road in December 2009.
"As I crossed the road, a red car went past and the pram was taken from my hands. All I could do was watch as the pram was knocked down the road and crashed into the back of a van and then fell on to its side," the mother said.
The baby girl spent almost a month in a medically-induced coma after suffering a double skull fracture and swelling around the brain.
Her mother said, "Nobody can tell us just how badly her brain has been damaged, or how well she'll recover from the injuries. It's every parent's worst nightmare."
The family appealed for witnesses to the incident so that they could claim car accident compensation.
Their personal injury lawyer said, "The long-term prognosis for recovery is still unknown. But what we do know is that at just eight months old, [she] is going to need a lot of help and support in the future to aid her recovery."
