Police are appealing to a driver to "have a conscience" and come forward to accept the blame for the personal injuries.

A police constable said: "I am asking the driver of the Focus to have a conscience and come forward to the police."

"An eight-year-old boy has been left lying in the road and the driver appears to have made little or no attempt to stop and help."

The police also say they would also like anyone who witnessed the collision or knows the identity of the vehicle's driver to contact the police and help provide the required justice to the injured boy.

It is unknown whether a compensation claim will be filed.
