Teenager knocked off his bike wins compensation

A teenager has been awarded compensation for suffering leg and head injuries after being knocked off his bike at a zebra crossing.

The boy was cycling home from work when he was hit by a car at a zebra crossing near a busy intersection.

He was taken to hospital after suffering from a number of personal injuries where he fell into unconsciousness which raised concerns with the hospital’s medical staff.

He suffered minor head injuries yet had a high risk of losing his leg as he suffered severe leg injuries to which he endured emergency surgery for bone and skin grafts for a fractured fibia and tibia (the longer bones below the knee).

The teenager underwent further surgery and received ongoing treatment for months after the road accident and relied on his mother for care.

He has been unable to work as a result of the accident and still suffers from leg pain.

A compensation claim was filed against the driver who admitted liability.

The boy was awarded £30,000 in damages.

Last month, a 15 year old cyclist had taken to hospital for head injuries after he was struck by a car whilst cycling through a supermarket car park in Carlisle.

It is unknown whether a no win no fee claim will be filed against the driver.
