Personal injury show stopper
In New Jersey, USA, the show is not over... until someone falls off the stage - and that is exactly what happened in a children’s talent pageant in a Passaic County hotel.
The show turned into a show stopper after an onlooker of the show fell through a two-foot wide gap hidden behind a curtain of a temporary stage that had been built for the pageant.
The victim, a man in his 30’s was posing for a photograph when the horror struck as he fell through the gap causing a cervical herniation and other personal injuries.
As a result, the victim received compensation of $3,000,000 after personal injury lawyers won him the large payout, because he now has to live with permanent pain and suffering from the accident, despite surgery to correct the injury.
The injury lawyers argued that the rental firm were liable for the hazard, as they built the constructed stage and negligently failed to properly coordinate, inspect and supervise the activity.
