Personal injury claim successful a decade after car crash
A man has successfully won personal injury compensation a decade after the car accident which left him injured.
The 27 year old from Kent was injured in 1999 after he was involved in a car accident. The man suffered brain injuries in the incident which proved to be very debilitating. Although he returned to work not long after the car accident, according to his personal injury solicitor he went into a ‘spiral of deterioration’ which eventually led to him being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. It was only with the help of a Transitional Rehabilitation Unit (TRU) that the man experienced what he called a ‘renaissance’ and it is hoped that the amount of compensation awarded will enable him to keep receiving treatment.
London’s High Court awarded the man a payout worth over £6 million. His father commented: "The compensation is a godsend. Had it not come, we would have muddled through, but it is likely that [he] would have been in a psychiatric unit for the rest of his life. There is nothing like TRU in the south of England, hence his moving to Wigan. It has made a wonderful difference."
