Accident prone bus driver wins compensation
An accident-prone bus driver has received compensation after being sacked for causing a number of accidents that led passengers to file personal injury claims, it has been revealed.
According to the employer of the bus company, the decision had been made after concerns had been raised about the driver, Clifford Pullen, aged 56, who had increased the firms insurance premiums from £22,000 to £35,000 a year by being involved in 10 accidents within the space of two years.
The firm, LMS Travel Ltd stated that number of the accidents had led passengers to file no win no fee claims against them, with one claim being settled for £10,700.
Operational manager, Raffi-Ali of LMS Travel said: "The last accident on July 1 brought the whole of Worcester to a standstill so I thought enough was enough and I had to take action before somebody got seriously hurt.
"LMS Travel is a small family-run business and until the last two years we had never even had to give a verbal warning to anyone let alone sack them so it was all very disappointing,"
Pullen had been awarded £500 for unfair dismissal.
