Personal injury compensation underestimated
Personal injury lawyers have stated that many people underestimate the compensation they could be awarded after they have suffered a personal injury.
A lawyer firm noted that a poll of 2,000 adults proved that UK claimants are unaware of the potential pay outs they could be entitled too.
While total compensation awards for fracturing an arm at work are usually around £6,000, 61% of those questioned estimated that the total payout would be under £5,000.
Charlotte Pegman, partner at a personal injury law firm said: “Not only are most compensation awards unspectacular, but most people actually have very modest expectations – typically in-line with average awards or even expecting substantially less.”
Pegman furthered: “Our research indicates to us that most people only want fair and reasonable compensation when they are injured at work.”
