Pizza Personal Injury case
A Madison County Circuit Judge has immunised a policeman Clarence Jackson from lawyer Amanda Verett’s claim that he injured her at Pizza Hut.
Judge Dennis Ruth applied state law providing immunity from negligence claims for public employees executing the law.
Verett alleged that the policeman invoked personal injuries onto her by negligently grabbing and jerking a door open causing a sudden movement that injured her shoulder and arm.
Jackson’s lawyer stated that the: “Plaintiff does not know exactly what happened! It is questionable whether she was even injured.”
Jackson was unable to answer whilst at court, so Verett was awarded $311,700 default judgement. Pizza Hut remains a defendant, with a judgement pending concerning the personal injury case.
