Wife compensated from husband death through no win no fee
A widow has been compensated with a six-figure sum following the death of her husband, who died after being affected by asbestos-related cancer.
The woman who is in her late sixties, made a claim following the man’s death, which happened in August 2008. He was diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma, eight months earlier.
A spokesperson from the no win no fee legal firm that represented the woman in her fight for compensation explained that the man’s employers were aware of the negative effects that the substance, when humans come into contact with it.
He said: “The dangers of asbestos were well known to employers by the time my client’s husband was working for the Central Electricity Generating Board.”
“Despite this he was never warned by them that asbestos was dangerous or provided with any protection. It is tragic that he has had to pay the ultimate price with his own life for this negligence.”
