Reality show contestant entitled to a no win no fee claim
The producers of a popular reality television show might face a compensation claim when one of the housemate fractured her ankle on the show. The contestant can claim a no win no fee compensation claim as she suffered a fracture while taking part in a task given during the show.
The female housemate was participating in a task with her fellow contestants which required dressing like a spider and pretending to clamber out of a giant bathtub, when she suddenly fell and got her ankle fractured.
After her fall, the other housemates came to her rescue and also applied an ice pack on her injuries, but the reality show’s executives took around 5 hours to call for the medical facilities and arrange to take her to the hospital for the treatment.
The 30 year old can file a no win no fee claim citing the inadequate security measures adopted by the producers of the show. She has currently left the show which is now in its final season due to her injuries and the producers are worried that she might claim the compensation.
In the words of a source, "Technically she has suffered an accident at work and like any employee she can seek legal advice to see if there is a case for compensation”.
According to a spokesperson of the channel, all the tasks performed by the contestants are first evaluated from a health and safety expert and then the contestant are given a go ahead to perform them.
