Student to pursue no win, no fee claim for compensation following food poisoning incident
A 19-year-old student is set to pursue a no win, no fee claim for personal injury compensation following an incident in which she suffered food poisoning while on holiday.
The young woman, who lives in Wigan, is now engaged in a legal battle for damages from the tour operator responsible for her disaster holiday. The student suffered from e. coli 0157, a particularly severe, potentially deadly form of food poisoning, from food which was served to her at the Hotel Orquidea, a resort on the Spanish islands of Gran Canaria, where she was staying in the summer of 2002.
Following the incident, the young woman had to be placed on life support as she was treated for the life-threatening illness. Kidney damage, which came about as a result of her affliction, may now affect her for tyhe rest of her life.
The student has since stated: “My life has been transformed completely by contracting E. coli 0157 and it is clear that this will dominate it for many years to come.”
She also stated that she was “terrified” when she was diagnosed with suspected kidney failure.
