Ankle injury from uneven public footpath
A man has been compensated after he sustained personal injuries when he fell on a public footpath. The man was walking his pet dog at the time of the accident. As he walked he heard two cyclists approaching and stepped out of their way to avoid them.
In doing so the man stepped in an uneven area on the path which led to him injuring his ankle. The man was then forced to take two months off from work.
The man decided to make a compensation claim on the basis of the council’s failure to regularly inspect and maintain the footpath. He contacted a no win no fee solicitor. He argued that if the council had had this system in place then the man’s accident would never have happened.
The council agreed to settle and he received £5,525 in compensation for his personal injuries and for the time that he had to take off work. The man revealed that he will be using some of his compensation claim to pay for additional physiotherapy treatment.
