No win no fee scooter claim
A disabled mother from Wales may have to sell her home to help pay off a scooter accident claim, it has been revealed.
The compensation claim involves a supermarket worker, who the judge ruled was entitled to a payout, after the 61-year-old defendant hit the worker's knee with her scooter.
In 2005, the pensioner was using her mobility scooter at her local supermarket when she crashed it into a staff member's trolley, causing the knee injury.
Eventually, the worker decided to pursue a no win no fee claim and in January the disabled woman was ordered to pay the claimant a total of £13,100.
However, a current ruling will allow the defendant to pay the settlement in installments of £100 a month. She commented, "I will pay the money though I have misgivings."
