Insurance firms helps asbestos victims
An insurance company has added its voice to those of no win no fee legal practitioners, by calling on the insurance sector to help resolve the compensation claims of people suffering from deadly asbestos cancers.
The groups says that those suffering with diseases such as asbestosis and mesothelioma, including the families of sufferers, deserve to be given reparation as promptly and justly as possible.
But since many claimants have to face great tribulations in tracing the liability insurers of employers that have now gone out of trade, many do not receive payments, even in cases when it is clear that the illness has arisen as a direct result of hazardous exposure in the workplace.
A spokesperson commented that we are "calling on the industry to work together to ensure that individuals and families affected by asbestos-related illness can access compensation whether it is provided by an individual insurer or the industry as a whole."
Adding: "Whilst a diagnosis is hard enough, for the victim, to find that they cannot claim for compensation as their past employer has now ceased trading and, the insurance provider cannot be traced can make an already difficult situation much worse."
