Former engineer secures no win no fee compensation

A former British Airways engineer has won £90,000 in a compensation settlement from an NHS Trust after his arm was severely damaged by an excessive dosage of drugs.

Michael Dexter, from Lancashire, had been depressed after leaving his job to move up North and had swallowed a number of sleeping tablets along with rum and was rushed to hospital.

When he arrived Mr. Dexter was given 200ml of Sodium Bicarbonate, which his no win no fee lawyer said was four times the regular dose.

Despite being admitted to the hospital after a suicide attempt, lawyer Michael Hayes, made clear that Mr. Dexter should not have been subjected to the negligent behaviour, which he says has cost his client 75% of the movement in his arm.

"No matter what the circumstances of how he got there, he was still entitled to be treated appropriately. I'm just happy that he's got a reasonable amount," he added.
