Mum claims compensation after glass door smashes on child’s pram

The mother of a baby who suffered personal injuries after a glass door shattered and fell into his pram has filed a no win no fee compensation claim against a department store, it has been revealed.

The seven month old had been sleeping in his pram when an 8ft glass door at a department store in Bristol shattered and fell into his pram as the mother and child attempted to leave the store.

The accident had caused the baby to suffer cut injuries.

The mother said: "The door shouldn't just shatter when you push it open.

If [my son] had been sitting up in his pushchair he would have been dead because there was a big thick piece of glass in the pram.

My solicitor has said that because of what happened [my son] could claim compensation, which could be put in a trust fund for when he's older, and I could receive a little bit of money as well."

She added that the firm "had three months to respond to the claim" yet she and her solicitor are still “waiting for a response from the other side to find out whether they accept or deny liability.”
