Legal firms struck off by watchdog

70 different legal firms offering a
no win no fee service have been struck off or suspended for a year by the legal watchdog claiming that the firms in question where preying on the weak and vulnerable taking compensation from the pockets of the victims to even setting up accidents and making bogus claims. The industry has ballooned in the last 18 months and it seems that a few bad eggs have decided to make their money in the no win no fee legal sector.
Speaking to the Independent newspaper the claims-management regulator, Kevin Rousell, said that many unscrupulous ambulance-chasers were being forced out of the market. But he admitted he was still receiving 170 complaints a month. One in 20 involved allegations of "fraudulent activity" requiring investigation by the Serious Fraud Office.
It seems that the legal watchdog has gone a long way to weed out the legal firms taking advantage of the weak and profiting from a largely unregulated sector of the legal world.
