A jockey, whose career was left in tatters last month after a corruption ban, has told reporters that he is looking for a no win no fee lawyer to help him overturn the penalty on appeal.
Dean McKeown, who was banned for four years from Horse Racing and is also be unable to continue his horse-breeding program, said that he will be appealing the “severity” of the ban.
Mr. McKeown represented himself in the original case and is hoping that by hiring legal representation he may be able to lessen the damage to his career.
"There's no evidence of any money changing hands but they say I must have benefited. It's all quite fanciful really but I'm having to live in this fantasy," he said.
"If a barrister or solicitor sees the way I've been treated, they might be prepared to take it on on a different costing basis," added McKeown. Updated on 14/11/2008
