No win no fee man’s inquest returns verdict

Mr Langford, a lawyer who helped developed the no win no fee system died in a car accident in Marbella in 2007. A coroner’s report has revealed that Mr Langford did not commit suicide and he died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Suicide was on many people’s lips due to the fact that Mr Langford had fled to Spain after his no win no fee compensation firm The Accident Group collapsed in 2003 with debts of around £100 million. When he died HM revenue and Customs where chasing after him for unpaid taxes amounting to around £4.1 million.

The inquest which took place in Bolton Town Hall concluded that there was absolutely no evidence to suggest that he killed himself, despite his wife Debbie telling the inquest that he went into a downward spiral of depression after the company collapsed. Despite this the inquest concluded that he had made dramatic improvements in 2006 and was returning back to his old self, concluding that Mr Langford’s death was just an unfortunate accident.
