New legislation aims to improve health and safety at work
Improvements in health and safety at work within the haulage industry have been attributed to a rise in
no win no fee claims and civil litigation cases. Taking advice from the Health and Safety Executive (
HSE) the industry has worked hard to improve the safety of its employees whilst at work.
Another factor which may also have an effect on health and safety is the new corporate manslaughter act which came into effect on the 6th of April this year. The act means that companies and organisation can be accused and found guilty of corporate manslaughter if there is a gross breach of their duty of care towards their employees.
This act is intended to tighten up management practices and improve working conditions for employees, and there are big fines and penalties for companies who fail to comply with it. All of this is good news for employees who hopefully should experience fewer accidents and injuries whilst at work.
