Consultant accused of medical negligence
It has emerged that a woman from Ilkley has launched a medical negligence claim against a consultant anaesthetist.
The compensation claim focuses on an alleged mistake during surgery at Airedale General Hospital.
The woman has launched a £300,000 High Court legal battle, stating that she has been the victim of a clinical blunder.
In a writ issued at the court, she claims she suffered severe personal injury due to the treatment she had whilst undergoing surgery on her left breast.
The female, has accused the doctor of negligence whilst performing a paravertebral block – an injection given into the upper back, to one side of the spine- as well as a general anaesthetic on July 31,2008.
The consultant in question has a mixed NHS and private practice and qualified for being a doctor on 1996.
The claim is ongoing.
