Lawyer blasts negligent nurse
Reactions have been heard after a nurse switched off her patient’s life support machine, by accident. The patient had been paralysed from the neck down after being involved in a car accident. But he was concerned about the level of care that he was receiving as he was being treated at home.
He even put up a camera in his room to keep a record of the treatment that he was receiving from the nurse, who he states had made previous mistakes with his treatment.
Daniel Lee, a legal professional who is the head of a medical negligence department at a no win no fee solicitors firm, described the incident as “terrifying, unbelievable and unacceptable”.
He also said: “What the nurse does in this footage is amongst the worst nightmares of patients' families. Whenever someone is dependent on a life support machine, there is always the fear that somehow the power will fail or a plug will be inadvertently pulled from the socket. But procedures are in place to ensure that mistakes like this absolutely should not happen.”
