Professional negligence leads to the death of an innocent victim, wife to sue NHS.
A woman’s husband died due to a blunder on the behalf of the medical professional team attending to his operation, is now preparing to sue the accused for medical negligence and surgical error compensation.
The victim who underwent the operation after being diagnosed for colorectal cancer at the Hospital underwent a laparoscopic procedure, the objective for which was to remove the cancerous part from his bowel but soon after the operation was over the bowel of the victim started to leak from the surgical area and in place of it there was fluid and gas filled up in the pelvis of the patient which led to the death of the victim in November 2008. The negligence consumed the life of the patient just weeks after the operation.
The inquiry into the death of victim as reported by the news daily brought out startling results. The consultant was criticised for delaying the CT scan and exploratory laparoscopy of the victim after he first complained of some problems and the leak. The CT scan was conducted two weeks after the surgery. The conclusion of this test was never acted upon.
The spokesman of hospital who was responsible for this negligence claimed that their apologies have already been offered to the family of the deceased.
