Family seek compensation
A family are seeking a multi-million pound compensation claim after a member died following surgical treatment.
The father of three went into hospital to have a gastric bypass operation as he wanted to drop from his 39-stone weight.
The man, who is a former Army Veteran from New York, sustained a gastric leak as a result of the surgery that he underwent. It was not until the man suffered from bedsores and an infection spread throughout his body, that further treatment was taken. But by now it was too late and the man passed away because of the personal injuries that he sustained.
His family have chosen to take the hospital which provided the treatment to court on the grounds of medical negligence. They are seeking $15 million (£ 10 million) in compensation.
The man’s daughter, aged 21, said: “There were times I would visit him, his air bed was deflated and he was sunken in and couldn't move.”
