Child's Tears over Dentist Fears
The parent of an 11 year old boy is bringing forward a claim against the family dentist on behalf of her child, under medical negligence.
The child underwent a root-canal after suffering severe pain due to tooth decay.During the procedure the metal instrument used to carry out the root-canal, snapped causing a three millimetre piece of sharp metal to become wedged into the child's gum.
The parent of the child stated that her son has been in agony for weeks and has been unable to attend school or take part in any of his usual extra curricular activities such as football training as he is barely eating and lacks energy.
Although the metal was, after several appointments, removed, the child has been left physically and emotionally affected. The client frequently suffers from regular panic attacks and nightmares relating to dentistry.
The child, is now forced to wear a brace as the insertion of the metal at an angle has caused his front teeth to become crooked.
The case is in the process of being heard at present.
