Injury lawyers help man win compensation
A man has been awarded with several thousands of pounds in compensation, after he was severely burned while working in a railway track.
The man, who was working to replace railway lines, was burned when a disc cutter ignited a spark from the rail and caught fire. It burned through the man’s clothing and badly burned his skin. As a result of the work accident, the man has been left with permanent scarring.
The man decided to take his case to court and with the help of his trade union; he was able to contact personal injury lawyers, who represented him in court. He was successful with is claim and received a compensation claim of £9,750.
A representative from the personal injury lawyers’ firm, said: “Since the member’s accident, his employer has supplied overalls to wear when carrying out this sort of work. This is a good thing, but it should not have taken an incident such as this to make it happen.
“The law is clear – if the employer cannot control risk by another means, then it must provide PPE to protect against the risk.”
