Family receive compensation after 12 year legal battle
It has been revealed that the family of a woman who drowned have eventually won their compensation claim after a lengthy legal battle.
The victim died over 10 years ago whilst at a beach but her insurance company refused to cover the accident claim.
However, after 12 years of fighting personal injury lawyers have forced the insurers to settle for just under £1 million during the second court-ordered mediation hearing in the case.
The accident occurred when the female and her family had stopped to enjoy a public beach but tragedy struck when the victim was swept up into a rip tide. A bystander had jumped into the water to try to save her, but sadly they both died.
After a liability-phase trial, the judge ruled that the insurance firm was responsible under the beach rental policy and stated that the company acted unprofessionally when refusing to cough up the claim settlement.
