Fall at work leads to compensation
A woman has been awarded a substantial sum of compensation after she sustained a personal injury when she fell onto some debris.
The woman, who was in her late fifties, at the time of the accident, was walking from the factory where she worked to the car park. The woman stepped on some metal bolts, which had been left on the ground and slipped on them. She landed heavily onto her wrist and sustained personal injuries.
Speaking about the incident, the worker said: “I don't know how the bolts came to be there, but it was clearly very dangerous as I found to my cost. I was subsequently awarded damages for the pain and suffering.”
She also added that: “As the plant was closing down, the personal injury lawyer also helped me to secure compensation for the fact that I would have a future disability which might affect my future prospects for work.”the personal injury lawyer who represented the woman, said: "An employer's responsibility extends beyond the factory doors, and in this instance the company should have taken steps to ensure that pedestrian areas for its employees were safe.”
He also said: “On this occasion they did not and my client ended up with a broken wrist for which she has now been adequately compensated.”
