Injury lawyer wins $800.000 for fall victim
An American injury lawyer has helped a carpenter win $800.000 dollars in compensation after a fall left the victim suffering from a fractured leg which required surgical treatment, an amputated little finger, a broken wrist and brain injury. He had to rely on a walker during his long recuperation and was reliant on his family to help with basic day to day living and was out of work for a year.
The incident happened after the victim in question fell from a fifth story construction whilst unloading heavy materials. The injury lawyer that represented him argued that the process of unloading the materials was unsafe and it violated OSHA and other safety regulations.
The lawyer continued to argue that workers should have been utilizing fall protection and the job site foremen and low tier labourers should have been trained in safety and accident prevention. Under the law it was the responsibility of all contractors down the chain to see to if OSHA was complied with and fall protection was used.
